Coach Steve founded
Southfork Sports Complex in 2015 with the idea of building a
baseball, softball and training facility that could accomodate
teams and players of all skill levels. Steve is a 1994
graduate of Texas A&M, has over 20 years of baseball
coaching experience with his passion for the sport stamped in every
aspect of Southfork Sports.
Steve is married to Nikki
and has three children - Jake, Andie and Joey.
Coach Michael graduated
from Wylie High School where he was a two year starter on the
varsity football team. He earned two All-District selection's his
junior and senior seasons and was named a team captain his senior
season.
Coach Michael went on to play college
football at Augustana University where he started 24 games, was
named 2x All-Conference safety his junior and senior season, and
was named a team captain his senior season. Coach Michael graduated
from Augustana in 2019 with a bachelors degree in
marketing.
Coach Bri has been a part of
Southfork Sports as a softball instructor since 2017. She played
for Northwestern State University where she earned all-conference
first baseman honors, was named to the All-Louisiana First Team,
and earned her degree in Psychology. Coach Bri is the DFW area
coordinator and a coach for the Impact Gold Softball organization
and has national teams at the 14u, 16u, and 18u
levels.
Keith Furnish played
college baseball, as a catcher, in Northern Illinois. His college
coach told all players when they arrived on campus, “You didn’t get
drafted out of high school, so you need learn the game as a coach
if you want to stay in the game.” True statement during that period
of time. Coach Furnish brings 35 years of coaching experience to
Southfork. He has coached around the metroplex with youth
organizations such as DBAT and the Dallas Mustangs, but now he
focuses on passing his knowledge to the youth through his lessons.
“My goal is to guide players to be as good as they would like to
be.”
Some of my best lessons
came from my hardest failures in my playing career and personal
life. Growing up in New Jersey, I never had the opportunities
available today. Select baseball, indoor facilities, strength and
conditioning, and of course baseball instruction are several
resources for players today. With that being said, my expertise
comes from experience, knowledge, success and
failures.

Coach Krystal played four
years of Division I softball at Jacksonville State University. Was
the starting left fielder and lead off hitter for three consecutive
seasons. Won female athlete of the year award in senior season. One
of the most productive hitters in JSU history. Still holds career
records in the top 20 players for Hits, Doubles, and RBIs. Had a
career batting average above. 300.
Played four years of varsity
softball at Wylie High School as a pitcher/outfielder and power
hitter. Lead the team as offensive player of the year during
sophomore, junior and senior seasons. Had a career batting average
of .377 and a posted a 31-19 record in the circle with 235 career
strikeouts and a 1.88 ERA. Played club softball for
Texas Glory.
Coach Darius attended
Wylie High School where he was a 4 year starter on varsity and
earned the honors of 2nd Team All-State as a Senior and 2nd Team
All-District as a Junior. He went on to attend West Texas A&M
and played in 120 games, 94 of those as a starter. WTAMU made the
Regional rounds of playoffs all 4 years Coach Darius played, he
ended his career with a .296 avg., a .779 OPS, and earned his
Bachelor Degree in Marketing.
Joey Schattle was an All-Conference player at Richland JC in
2012-2013 and was selected to the Junior College All-Star Game in
2013. He played locally at Richardson High School from
2008-2011 where he was named Newcomer of the Year and
All-City Team in 2010, District 9-5A All-District Team in 2010-2011
and Richardson Offensive MVP in 2011.
Joey specializes in hitting, fielding and pitching.
Coach Brett was a 4-year starter on his high school varsity
baseball team and a 3-time, 1st team All-District
outfielder. He went on to attend Wayland Baptist University, where
he continued his baseball career at the collegiate level for the
Pioneers. Throughout his career, he played centerfield as well as
middle infield and catcher with the occasional trip to the bump as
a reliever. He also has 5 years of coaching experience at the
competitive youth level. Between his playing days and coaching
time, he is a 12-year veteran of the US Army.
Coach Nick is a Gilbert, AZ native in which he was a 4 year
varsity letterman in baseball, who also played two years at
Chandler-Gilbert CC. At CGCC, he was an everyday starter, his
freshman and sophomore year he racked up a .350 avg and led the
country in stolen bases his sophomore season with 57 in 55
games.
From there, he earned a scholarship to go play at Stephen F.
Austin as a lead off hitter and CF.
Since playing, he has been coaching youth teams (ONE National)
for over a year as well as giving lessons throughout the week.
Coached for 10 years in travel
baseball as a head coach from ages 8u to 18u. Coached for
Mojo Baseball, Baseball Nation, Easton Elite, Dallas Mustangs and
Dallas Tigers.
Played Varsity at Irving Nimitz
as a Freshman and was a 3 year letter at Grapevine High
School. Pitched for the 1996 and 1997 Connie Mack World
Champion Dallas Mustangs under coaches Sam Carpenter and Jack
Sharp.
Played at Tulane University for
a season before transferring to pitch at Texas Tech University for
two years. Graduated from The University of Texas at
Arlington with a Bachelors’ Degree in Marketing.
Worked under formed MLB
instructor Ronnie Ortegon for the past two years helping organize
player development programs for the Dallas Tigers.
Coach Chris Stratis is the
founder of Champion Sports Performance, where he works with
athletes of all ages to help them become stronger, faster, and more
athletic. From our youngest athletes, to Middle School and High
School athletes, to the Collegiate and Olympic levels, Coach Chris
has a proven track record of helping athletes reach their potential
and improve their performance in the sports they
love.
With over 20 years of
coaching experience, Coach Chris is well respected and sought after
by coaches and athletes from around the state, across the country,
and around the world. He is the Sports Performance Coach for the
USA National Karate Team. Coach Chris is a five-time Karate
National Champion and a seven-time member of the USA National
Karate Team. In 2015 he was inducted into the United States Karate
Federation Hall of Fame for his accomplishments as a Karate athlete
during the 1990s. He was also an accomplished sprinter as a High
School and Collegiate Track & Field athlete (60m, 100m, 200m,
400m, Long Jump) in addition to competing in soccer and wrestling
at the high school level.
Coach Chris is a Certified
Speed & Agility Coach (CSAC) through the National Sports
Performance Association (NSPA). He also holds Youth Fitness
Specialist and Athletic Assessment Specialist certifications
through the International Youth Conditioning Association (IYCA).
Coach Chris is certified through the Positive Coaching Alliance and
the SafeSport program, as well as the Coach Accelerator Program
with the United States Olympic Committee. He holds a B.S. in
Information & Decision Systems and Master of Business
Administration, both from Carnegie Mellon
University.
